What’s NOT Covered
What isn’t covered by Part A and Part B?
Unfortunately, Medicare doesn’t cover everything. There are certain services you might need or want that are not covered under Medicare Part A or Part B. You’ll likely have to pay for them yourself unless:
- You have private coverage (including Medicaid) to cover the costs.
- You’re in a Medicare health plan that covers these services
If Medicare ends up covering a service or item, you’ll likely have to pay deductibles, coinsurance, and/or copayments.
These are some of the services that Medicare doesn’t cover:
- Most dental care
- Eye examinations related to prescribing glasses
- Cosmetic surgery
- Hearing aids and exams for fitting them
- Long-term care
