What does a Medigap policy cover?
All Medicare Supplement policies have to follow federal and state laws which are designed to protect you, and policies must be clearly identified as “Medicare Supplement Insurance.” Medigap insurance companies in most states can only sell you a “standardized” Medicare supplement policy identified by letters A through N.
Each standardized Medicare Supplement policy MUST offer the SAME basic benefits, no matter which insurance company sells it.
The most important thing to know when comparing policies is that different insurance companies may charge different premiums for the same exact policy. When you shop for a policy, make sure you’re comparing the same policy. An example of this would be to compare Plan G from one company with Plan G from another company.
The chart below shows basic information about the different benefits that Medigap policies cover.
